Travel to the conference
Poland is easiest reachable by plane or train and the main hub, both for plane and train connections is Warsaw (approximately 240km away from Białowieża). Białowieża village is located on the eastern border of Poland and its nearest railway station is Hajnówka (the closest town, 20km apart). Another place for interconnection is
Białystok (80km away from Białowieża): providing trains and buses to Hajnówka and some direct buses to Białowieża (twice a day only).
Hajnówka is reachable by train and bus and will probably serve as a final transfer point
before reaching Białowieża itself, so please use it as a destination for your train
connection searches.
For those travelling by train
Closest international airports: Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW), Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI), Lublin Airport (LUZ).

For those travelling by train (and those that need to continue their journey from the airports)
Polish railways are Polskie Koleje Państwowe, but there are also other companies operating the connections. To search a connection, please use https://rozklad-pkp.pl/en or other platforms such as https://koleo.pl/en. All train tickets can be purchased online but please be aware that there are several companies (like Koleje Mazowieckie or Przewozy Regionalne), so you should buy your tickets at the correct website – if you use the above platforms you will be directly connected to the right website.
Warsaw has three big train stations – Warszawa Wschodnia, Centralna and Zachodnia. Zachodnia is the closest from the airport but most of the connections to Hajnówka start from Warszawa Wschodnia station. From Warsaw Chopin Airport you can easily take the underground railway from the airport to Warszawa Wschodnia station. Further connections should be to Hajnówka or Białystok.
Train connections to Hajnówka can require a transfer (in Siedlce or also in Czeremcha). Some connections from Warsaw via Białystok to Hajnówka are direct and some also require transferring (in Białystok). The journey can last between 3 and 5 hours.
In Białystok you can also find buses to Hajnówka and Białowieża.
From Hajnówka to Białowieża
The last stage of the travel – Hajnówka-Białowieża must be done by bus or taxi. There are only several bus connections daily. A taxi journey between Białowieża and Hajnówka is ca 19 km and usually the price varies around 200PLN – taxi drivers list available here: https://hajnowka.pl/strona/1686-taksowki
